CAFE PARADISO A&P ZINE
Personal Project

THE PRINT
Working as a barista for 7 years gave me a grand respect for cafes as a Third Space, with the ones I worked at often participating in and hosting community events. In college I headlined a zine for Cafe Paradiso, where I was also a barista. This cafe has a long standing relationship with students and surrounding community, often hosting poetry slams, thrifting events, or engaging with clubs on campus. It was a place where people gathered to share.
Hoping to contribute to this atmosphere, I crafted an art an poetry zine taking community submissions. The result was a bi-weekly issue - 200 copies printed on tabloid sized paper and hand folded by me and my friends. I headlined the printing costs and offered a box for 25 cent donations. Copies were gone within a day or two. It was an honor to showcase the art of my community in this way.
