AGRICULTURE
My farming journey first began at the University of Illinois Sustainable Student Farm. Here I learned not just the ins and outs of sustainable vegetable farming, but also about issues pertaining to social justice in the world of agriculture. I began work in a summer internship, and continued on with part time employment throughout the following school year.
The next summer I began work for Canopy Farm Management. I worked alongside other farm technicians to establish perennial polyculture/agroforestry plots on preexisting and independently owned farms. It was satisfying to work with my hands once more whilst helping others establish sustainable farming practices.
These experiences have given me an enthusiastic respect for the Earth. I plan to carry the lessons of working alongside our environment into all future endeavors.
